Intro: Hello, everyone, and welcome to the Sellercast podcast. My name is Chris Guthrie. And in this episode, I’m going to be covering what the show is all about and telling a little bit about myself as well. So again, thank you so much for tuning in.

Chris Guthrie: This is the very first episode. And really, this show is all about e-commerce. So it’s very much focused on selling physical products online with an emphasis of those people that are selling on Amazon. So Amazon is obviously a massive platform. They’ve been around for over 20 years. And you can use that platform to sell any types of products. Now the types of products that we primarily will be talking about are products that are private labeled or that you’ve done and you’ve got out and you’ve patented something, you’ve created your own brand-new products and you’re selling on Amazon. So everything is really focused on brand owners and private label sellers. But that said, anything that has to do with selling online, we’re going to be covering so that you can learn to better market and sell your own products online in whatever marketplace you’re doing that with.

So let me briefly tell you a little bit about my own experiences because for the most part, every episode is going to really be focused on either answering questions you may have, which you can ask by going to Sellercast.com/ask. Or I’m going to be interviewing a guest, which is probably going to be the most common thing that we do. And these guests are going to be e-commerce experts or people that are just starting out—anyone that has learned something that I believe can provide value to you, the listener.

And so this will be a brief moment for me to be able to tell you a little bit about my own experiences so you know a little more about myself. I’ve been building online businesses full-time since October 2009. The very first thing that I really had success with was Amazon’s Affiliate program, actually. And I was ranking websites on Google and product review style websites, and then making money from Amazon’s Affiliate program by referring people to Amazon and earning a commission when people bought those products on Amazon. Now fast forward several years, and I actually started selling physical products on Amazon. In between that time period, I was really focused on building software tools for different types of businesses, and more specifically and most recently, I’ve been focusing on Salesbacker. Salesbacker.com/now is something you can check out. And what that does is it’s designed to help you get more product reviews for the products that you’re selling on Amazon.

So that’s what my background is, in developing software products. But I started selling on Amazon in the middle of 2014. I thought, “Wow! This is a really profitable business model.” So I started to focus more effort on it, and then more recently started to add a team member on to help grow that business. And really, that’s why we created Salesbacker because I thought, “Hey, this is something that we can create for people that are physical product sellers and brand owners that specifically want to get help with getting more product reviews.” So what it does is it allows you to automatically send emails to your customers on Amazon after they purchased your products where you can then ask for a review. It’s really, really effective. And we designed it specifically for folks like you, and it’s based off of my own experiences. I’ve been selling physical products since the middle of 2014. And I recognize several different challenges for the private label sellers and brand owners. And so we incorporated solving those challenges into the software itself.

So that’s a little bit of my background. And ultimately, it just comes from the standpoint of I’ve learned how to sell on Amazon. And then now we’re solving the problems with the software as well and then talking to people that are using it and also people that are just doing well with e-commerce in general. So altogether, this should be a really fun podcast to do. I love to talk to other successful business owners and even people just starting out. And we’ve already recorded several episodes at the time of recording this one. And I’m really excited about the guests that we have already recorded and also the ones that we have yet to record as we go along into the future.

One of the things I want to mention too is that Sellercast.com/contest is where you can go. If you want to sign up for Salesbacker, the software I just mentioned, you can actually get access to six months free. We’re giving away six months free, and that’s something that we do fairly regularly. So you can sign up there for the details to see what that’s all about. Now if you’re already a Salesbacker user, then we just supply this to your existing account as it is. So it’s for anyone, whether or not you’re selling on Amazon right now using Salesbacker or if you’re already using it.

The other thing I want to mention too is that Sellercast.com is where you can go to see links to all the future episodes that we’re doing. So right now, I’m recording this very first episode. And again, it’s a short episode because it’s just me and the mike by myself talking to you about what this show is going to be focused on and giving you a brief history from myself before we dive right into future episodes where we’re talking to people that are building their businesses.

I think that sums up most of what I wanted to cover. Again, Sellercast.com is where you can go to find out information on the current shows that we’re doing. You can also go to Sellercast.com/ask to ask questions. And then I can see what people are most frequently asking, and we can do some recordings that are based on those questions. And you can also go to Sellercast.com/now if you want to do a 60-day trial of the Salesbacker software that we created. And then finally, Sellercast.com/contest where you can enter to win six months free of Salesbacker. So several different links there for you to check out. But the main thing to keep in mind is just Sellercast.com, and everything else that’s mentioned there should be available. So I’m really excited to get this show going.

Go ahead and listen to the next episode where we dive right into a guest that I interviewed that has built a ecommerce business and raised over $100,000 on Kickstarter to help get things going, and then also brought that over to Amazon. He had several different challenges along the way, and also several triumphs. So that is a great episode. You should definitely check that out by going to Sellercast.com/2 to listen to the next episode.

Outro: Thank you so much for tuning into this mini episode. And I look so forward to teaching you and helping you grow your ecommerce business by interviewing people that are up and doing successful things selling products online. Thank you so much for listening, and I’ll see you in the next episode.
